How to reach St Andrews:

St Andrews is located in the East coast of Fife in Scotland at approximately 80 km and 120 km from Edinburgh and Glasgow, respectively.

Most of the information about public transport (options, timetables, etc) in Scotland can be found at Traveline Scotland site (http://www.travelinescotland.com/welcome.do). In the following, we will describe the three main options to reach St Andrews from the Edinburgh airport.

Bus + Bus: This is the cheapest option. It takes a bit longer than the train but it implies only one change. At the international exit of the airport you will find the Bus stops. The Bus 747 to Ferrytoll Park&Ride usually stops at stance 22. You can buy the tickets on the bus directly to St Andrews. At Ferrytoll P&R, you should change to the X59 bus direction St Andrews. St Andrews bus stop is the last one and the Agnes Blackadder Hall is only 5 minutes walking from the St Andrews Bus Station. Importantly, buses are only available till 19:30 in the evening, so please take this into account when planning your trip.

Bus + Train + Bus(Taxi): St Andrews does not have Train Station. The closest one is located in Leuchars, approximately 10 km away from St Andrews. This option is usually shorter in time than the previous one but it implies two changes. At the airport take the Bus 747 direction Inverkeithing, which stops at Inverkeithing Train Station, where you should take a train to Leuchars. Then, from Leuchars Train Station, you can take another bus to St Andrews (several possibilities), or a taxi (~18 euros).

Shuttle: Importantly, reaching St Andrews after 23:00 by public transport is hard. In this case, the best option is to book a shuttle in advance. This option is also favourable if you are a group of people arriving to the airport at the same time. There are two main companies operating in St Andrews:

St Andrews Direct (full price £60; if you share the shuttle the price is divided by the number of people up to a minimum of £20). Once you perform the booking, they will also try to find other people willing to share the shuttle with you. http://www.standrewsdirect.com/price_dates.html

St Andrews Shuttle (full price £70; if you share the shuttle the price is divided by the number of people up to a minimum of £18). Once you perform the booking, they will also try to find other people willing to share the shuttle with you. http://www.standrewsshuttle.com/index.asp
